Pet Care OEM Split Shipments: Keep Batch and Packaging Versions Traceable
Prepare split pet care OEM orders with clear batch records, label versions, carton allocation, shipment approvals and importer handover information.

Quick Answer
For a split OEM shipment, track the formula batch, finished-product lot, packaging version and destination allocation separately. Buyers should approve which units go where, what remains in storage and which documents accompany each delivery. A shared product name is not enough to identify the correct goods.
A brand may want one part of an order sent to a distributor and another part held for an ecommerce launch. The operational details should be agreed before production planning. PAWS FUN coordinates production, quality control and export cooperation from its own pet care cosmetics factory; each split-order arrangement still needs commercial and technical confirmation.
Build one allocation sheet
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Product and approved specification | Identify the exact formula, capacity and pack |
| Artwork version and language | Prevent the wrong label reaching the destination |
| Finished lot and carton references | Link physical goods to the relevant production records |
| Quantity by destination | Separate total order volume from shipment allocation |
| Storage and dispatch conditions | Clarify responsibility while goods wait |
| Approval owner | Name who may release or revise the allocation |
Distinguish a production batch from a shipping group
One dispatch may contain more than one production lot, and one lot may be divided between dispatches. Ask how those relationships will be recorded. If cartons are repacked, the records should still identify the underlying finished goods. Do not replace lot information with a shipment nickname.
Freeze artwork at a defined point
Suppose the buyer approves an English label and later requests an additional language for part of the order. That change can affect purchasing, packing and release work even if the formula is unchanged. Ask whether a separate label run is feasible and obtain the revised scope before scheduling shipment.
Keep a readable artwork proof with its version identifier. A message saying “use the latest label” is ambiguous when several teams have different attachments. The approval should specify the product, destination and exact file.
Agree what happens to held stock
Record the expected holding period, responsibility for storage, stock visibility, dispatch notice and any costs. Ask what happens if the second destination changes or the buyer delays collection. Product dating and stock rotation must follow the confirmed product specification; do not assume that shipment delay restarts shelf life.
Review each dispatch before handover
- Reconcile picked quantities against the approved allocation.
- Check product and packaging versions against destination requirements.
- Confirm lot and carton records and the agreed release evidence.
- Review the packing list and destination-specific documentation with the responsible parties.
- Record the handover and remaining balance.
This is a suggested buyer checklist, not a statement that a particular certificate or test report is universally required or already available.
Use real products to frame the discussion
Compare a proposed order of Sensitive Skin Dog Shampoo 500ml and Intensive Repair Pet Conditioner 500ml. Each has its own identity and packing requirements. Explore Salon Use for professional-channel planning, but do not assume that a listed retail size has an approved bulk equivalent.
FAQ
Does splitting an order reduce MOQ?
Not automatically. Production and packaging quantities may be determined independently from the number of deliveries.
Can the same label serve all markets?
The buyer and responsible local advisers need to review destination requirements for the actual product and claims. One approved market does not establish approval elsewhere.
Can we change a destination after production?
Ask before arranging transport. The change may require a new allocation, label review, documentation or quotation.
