Private Label Pet Care for UK Brands After PATS 2026: Turn Product Ideas Into a Factory Brief
Turn PATS 2026 product ideas into a focused UK private-label pet-care brief covering range, samples, claims, packaging and importer checks.

Quick Answer
After a trade show, shortlist the customer problem—not every product that looked interesting. For each private-label concept, define the channel, target price position, intended cosmetic benefit, package, sample criteria and UK compliance responsibilities. Send the factory a focused brief with one priority launch range and a separate list of future ideas.
PAWS FUN supports private-label pet-care cosmetics through its own factory, coordinating R&D, sampling, manufacturing, quality control and export collaboration.
What PATS 2026 Actually Shows
PATS 2026 took place at NEC Birmingham from 27–29 September. More than 400 products entered its New Product Showcase. Retail judges assessed entries on innovation, design, quality, packaging, value and sustainability. The grooming award went to a portable dog washer, while the official showcase also included 100ml dog hair mists.
This suggests visible trade interest in convenient grooming formats and products that fit between-bath routines. It does not prove that a portable washer, hair mist or any other format will meet your specific customers’ demand. PATS 2026 Award Results · PATS 2026 Event Information
Convert Show Notes Into a Range Strategy
Classify ideas into three groups:
| Group | Decision |
|---|---|
| Launch priority | Solves a clear customer problem and fits the current channel |
| Sample later | Interesting, but needs demand, cost or claim validation |
| Do not pursue | Duplicates the range or depends on unsupported claims |
A retailer may begin with a home-use shampoo, conditioner and between-bath spray. A salon group may prioritize a professional shampoo format and one retail take-home item. The right first range depends on the customer, price position and operational capacity.
Write a Factory Brief Buyers Can Compare
For each launch-priority SKU, include:
- Product type and intended cosmetic use.
- Dog, cat or other confirmed species positioning.
- Home, salon, e-commerce or retailer channel.
- Formula direction and exclusions to review.
- Fragrance direction and acceptable intensity.
- Pack size, closure and decoration preference.
- Required sample evaluation method.
- Proposed claims and wording to avoid.
- Estimated quantity and launch window.
- UK importer, responsible-business and label review plan.
Do not ask multiple factories for “your best formula” and then compare quotations as if the scope were identical.
Separate Cosmetics From Veterinary Positioning
A grooming product intended to clean or beautify an animal should not be promoted as treating infection, inflammation, allergies or other disease without the appropriate regulatory basis. Review the product’s identity, ingredients, claims and route to market with a qualified UK adviser.
If a product is intended for the eye, ear or mouth area, the use instructions and claims require particular care. Do not infer UK acceptability from a competitor label alone.
Plan Packaging for the Sales Channel
For e-commerce, assess leakage protection, parcel handling and the amount of information visible on the online listing. For salon retail, consider shelf recognition, easy explanation and whether the take-home size supports reordering. For trade distribution, prepare consistent case, carton and item data.
Existing PAWS FUN references include Doodle & Curly Coat Shampoo 500ml, Intensive Repair Pet Conditioner 500ml and Pet Odor Neutralizing Spray 250ml.
These products retain their current specifications. A UK private-label version needs its own agreed formula, packaging, label and approval record.
Use Two Commercial Paths Deliberately
Private label is suitable when a buyer wants its own brand, approved specification and coordinated production. Distributor cooperation is a separate route for buyers who want existing PAWS FUN-branded products. Do not mix the two offers in one quotation without clearly identifying the product ownership, labels and commercial terms.
FAQ
Does a PATS award prove a product will sell for my brand?
No. Awards and showcase entries are market signals, not sales forecasts. Validate the idea against your own customers, channel and price position.
Can PAWS FUN guarantee UK compliance?
No. The manufacturer can support product information and documentation, but the UK buyer must confirm the obligations that apply to the exact formula, claims, label and import route.
Should a UK start-up launch every product in its mood board?
Usually a focused first range is easier to sample, approve, explain and reorder. Keep future concepts in a separate development pipeline.
Can PAWS FUN supply a portable dog washer as an independent OEM item?
No. Tools and machines may only be discussed as promotional or bundled items with a qualified cosmetics project. PAWS FUN does not accept independent tool OEM projects.
